I created Amber Psychology to provide a warm and safe therapeutic space where you can feel comfortable to share your difficulties. My intention for the practice is to facilitate your growth and healing, equip you with strategies to manage distress, and support you through life’s challenges. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy, evaluating the contributions of lifestyle and environment to levels of distress while embracing techniques such as mindfulness to reduce suffering.
So, why did I call the practice Amber. It's a long story but connected to my own personal journey and experience of life’s ups and downs. As a psychologist and a human, I value honesty, integrity, warmth and nurturing in my personal and professional relationships. The healing properties of the resin Amber evoke those same qualities and after much reflection, I so-named my beautiful canine companion, Amber.
Amber is a 4-year-old Airedale Terrier. She is intelligent, lively and engaging with a keen sense of humour which has been a source of light relief during difficult times. She loves people and other animals and is currently in-training as a therapy dog. During her training, she has demonstrated a keen intuition for the emotional needs of my clients (both for comfort and fun) and is warm and lovable. Amber is awaiting formal assessment and we hope she can officially start in the practice very soon.
I feel privileged that you have chosen me to work with you.
